Description
A
marvellous classic alpine crossing, departing from the Larcher
chalet, through the 13 peaks of the Ortles Cevedale chain, all
of which are over 3000m. The route winds for about 17Km, with a
difference in ascent and descent of 1750m and 1920m respectively,
on glaciers and snow-fields of medium difficulty.
The itinerary necessitates a good alpine preparation,
appropriate equipment (ice axe, rope and crampons) and the
presence of an expert alpine guide. From the Larcher chalet you
ascend path 103 to Passo della Forcola to continue on the crest
until the Zufall peak (1st peak at 3757), continuing you reach
the Cevedale peak (2nd peak at 3769) which is the highest point.
You then descend to the Colombo camp to then ascend to Palon
della Mare (3rd peak at 3703m) to then conclude the first day at
the Mantova chalet on the Vioz mountain (4th peak at 3645m)
where it is advisable to have booked to then carry on the
following day to assault the more difficult part of the Vioz
mountain which passes punta Taviela (5th peak at 3612m), Pejo
peak (6th peak at 3549m), Rocca di S. Caterina (7th peak at
3529m), Punta Cadini (8th peak at 3524m) to then have a
reservation at the Meneghello Camp. The start of the third day
is with the ascent of the Giumella mountain (9th peak at 3594m),
Punta S. Matteo (10th peak at 3678m), the descent is then down
the Dosegų (11th peak at 3560m), at altitude until you reach
Punta Pedrazzini (12th peak at 3599m) and finally Pizzo Tresero
(13th peak at 3594m) the last mountain on this extraordinary
excursion.
The return journey can either be in the Passo Del Gavia or by
Tresero or from S.Matteo towards lake Palų and the Val di Pejo.
