  Description

After Pejo Terme, take the forest path on the left for Fontanino, as far as the lake and malga Giumela (1947 m). An easy mule track leads to malga Paludei, set up as a camp. The scenery is embroidered with thick forest vegetation and grazing land rippled with alpine flora in the summer. Path 110 leads to the passo della Sforzellina. (3006 m), at the foot of the Corno dei Tre Signori (3559m), to the discovery of the source of the river Gavia. Just past malga Paludei, a difficult path leads to Val Piana. The area is worth a visit. It offers wild surroundings populated by a rich fauna (in the morning there are sightings of Alpine chamois and marmots); the more enthusiastic excursionists can also admire at close quarters, during the walk, rare species of flora and observe unusual geological phenomena which have converged to create this alpine Eden. Then the path rises towards Punta San Matteo (3678 m), theatre of the courageous battle during the “Great War” in 1918.
