VAL DI PEIO> Traditions> L.I.N.U.M
A LESSON GIVEN BY THE MOUNTAIN
From
the temple of living to the places which work. From the house of
Graziòli to Percorso Linum. The course was set up in 2001 and
integrated in 2002. The excursion lasts about 2 hours along a
circular path and links the towns of Strombiano and Celentino.
This will guide you through woods and plains so that you can
become more familiar with the ethnographic and history.
The
path we would like to propose shows certain aspects
of life, territory and work carried out by a small Alpine
village. The woods and plains, over the centuries, have been
important to the local economy. Every resource which nature
gives is exploited, every thing had a reason for existing,
products and by-products have a precise end use. Waste was not
part of the community’s way of life. These microcosms of almost
exclusive self-sufficiency has been in existence for a nearly a
thousand years, almost unchanged. These reflect the work,
customs, which have often been troubled by poverty, plague, wars
and natural calamities. It is therefore a small world both in
dimension and resources which can, today, create nostalgia and
admiration whilst in reality was lived with sacrifice and
resignation.
In
Val di Pèio you can still find, examples of the past. The course
offers the following places of interest: churches, small
churches and capitals which show the artistic ambitions and
devotion of our people. You can also find different types of
rural architecture: information on how to use the woods and
management of the forest and fauna. It opens up a window on the
toponomy, a world of place names in order to read the layers of
life lived over the centuries. It catapults you into the distant
past and in the prehistoric rituals of cupels. It re-calls the
origins of mechanics and the energy of sweets from the mill. The
Linum path throws a ray of light on all of this.
